Just a quick update on how we are doing for payments. So far Grophland users have paid us $685 for accounts. This is over halfway towards the cost of our new dedicated server! However we still have $505 to go ... and Victoria and I can only really afford to put forward $300 of our own to help out, so we really need some more to come in. We only need another 20 or so people to pay and we will do it ....

So if you can, help out Grophland today!

You can now upgrade to a paid account from the payments page (under the explore menu). If you plan to pay for your account then please do so as soon as you can. We need to raise enough money to pay for a dedicated server in the next two weeks or grophland will go offline. Thanks in advance to everyone!

PAYING FOR GROPHLAND!!! (posted 5:19)

Please can all players go to the General forum and read the PAYING FOR GROPHLAND thread. We are having to introduce a yearly fee for all but the most basic accounts, and we need to know who is willing to pay for it. If enough people don't pay Grophland will have to shut down. Please, if you are willing to pay $15 a year for your accounts then go to that thread and let us know. If we get enough people who tell us they are willingto pay then will go ahead with a dedicated server, otherwise we will probably be offline permenantly in a couple of weeks.

Nicknames (posted 5:53)

All nicknames must now start with a letter (not a number or other symbol). All nicknames with other things at the start have been changed, and you should not be able to add non-letters to the start any more.

Rich list change (posted 4:49)

The top ten richest owners now only counts Grophgold in the bank, the way we were doing things before was quite slow.

User shops reset (posted 2:44)

After some complaints about the items that got put into user's shops not being right under the new system I have reset all shops! Nothing is now on sale, and all your on-sale items should be back in your inventory again. Please re-add them to your shops and report any bugs right away. Thanks.

GROPHLAND BACK (for now) (posted 14:08)

As most of you will know Grophland was shut down last week by our hosts because our database was consuimng far too many resources. We have been working hard since then to try and make our code a lot more efficient, cut down on queries and generally make things a lot faster. As a result we are now re-openeing the site, but some features have changes (mail, forums and shops work differently under the surface) and some have been removed (such as the previous and next item links, and, for now, the contests). We don't know if this will be enough to make the site fast enough, but we will see.

Some of you may also notice that you can no longer upgrade your caves past some rather low limits. This is a temporary measure for now. However if we cannot make our database fast enough on this server we will have to move to a dedicated server. This will require us to reduce the number of grophs in a free account to a much lower level, and introduce a yearly fee for anything more. More news on this as we find out how the server is performing.

News from the racing scene today is that hot favourite Tureen has been in a terrible accident. We understand Tureen chased a Booboo into a Booboo nest and was attacked by all the birds. Trainers eventually managed to rescue him, but the word is that he's just not the same! In other racing news old-ravourite Ribbons was today retired by his owner. Only time will tell if his offspring Wonder Ribbon, will do as well.

Since its creation the Grophfiction board has been for writings related to Grophland only, but we have a lot of budding poets and writers here who really want a place to put their work, and not so many works related to Grophland. Because of this, and because writing is fun and good, we have changed the Grophfiction forum to be a place for all your writings. Enjoy!

Autumn is truly here and its the time of year when Grophs celebrate the harvest Festival! Go to the harvest store in the fields outside Grophtown to find these fine harvest items!

The King of Grophland has opened a new shop in the castle keep, where the Nobles of Grophland can find their most fashionable goods.

The King has had his seneschal release a new range of final doublets. These are available from the new Castle Shop in the castle.

A new, and very challenging, tile layout has been added, the wall. This one pays well if you solve it though.

In a small change to the price structure for pools, Figure of Eight Pools now require you to upgrade.

A new store has opened in the fields outside Grophtown. The Harvest Store is in some way connected with the Harvest Festival, which is celebrated on the mainland in the first few weeks of October.

There is a new game in Grophland today, and you don't have to pay to play! Of course you are not guarenteed to make anything from winning either, but sometimes you will! The new game is Ivory Tiles, a tile matching game similar to Mah Jhong Solitaire. Find it in the house of games.
