Caboc is an ancient cheese whose recipe has been passed down from mother to daughter since the 15th century. The recipie is a guarded secret. It originates from Scotland, where its first creator was the daughter of the chieftain of the Clan MacDonald, who ran away to avoid being kidnapped and married off. Caboc is a log-shaped cream cheese with a smooth grainy texture. What makes it interesting is that Caboc is covered in toasted oatmeal. It's rolled in the stuff, which is how it gets its shape. According to legend, this oatmeal covering was an accident, but it turned out so well, that all Caboc cheese today has a coating of it.
